LE POETE BY MICK DAVIS - RECYCLED TYRES [SCULPTURE IN CONTEXT 2017]

LE POETE BY MICK DAVIS - RECYCLED TYRES [SCULPTURE IN CONTEXT 2017]

This was by far the one that I liked best. “I create tyre sculptures by first building a steel armature that forms the sculpture’s ‘skeleton.’ Then I attach tyres to the armature. For larger sculptures, I occasionally also work with used car tyres.”

WATERFORD WALLS [AN ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL STREET ART FESTIVAL]

The street art festival was the reason for my visit to Waterford this week. There was a lot to see and photograph making it difficult for me to describe the locations or the artists so if you want more information I suggest that you visit http://waterfordwalls.ie/ In general the local population appeared to be very excite about this year’s festival which is good.

EXPERIENCE JAPAN FESTIVAL DAY 2017 [AT FARMLEIGH IN PHOENIX PARK]

EXPERIENCE JAPAN FESTIVAL DAY 2017 [AT FARMLEIGH IN PHOENIX PARK]

Today I joined many like-minded people in the beautiful surrounds of Farmleigh to celebrate Japanese and Japanese-Irish culture. Others brought their  friends, their family, their kids and many brought their dogs but I brought my camera.

Experience Japan is an entirely non-commercial, community organisation operated by volunteers. The annual Experience Japan festival in Farmleigh House and associated events are supported by the Office of Public Works, Dublin City Council and the Embassy of Japan. The Experience Japan organising committee are representatives of the Japanese and Irish-Japanese communities in Ireland.

And so the event begins.

The Dublin Tech Summit (DTS) is an international technology conference held in Dublin, Ireland. The first summit took place 15 and 16 February 2017, at the Convention Centre Dublin.

The organisers plan to run the event annually, and to attract more than 10,000 attendees as well as influential speakers, startups, exhibitors, sponsors and investors, covering eight main themes:

    Business
    The Internet of things
    Marketing
    Fintech
    Medtech
    Big data and analytics
    Creativity
    Fashion

DTS was the idea of Business and Finance magazine publisher Ian Hyland and former Accenture consultant Ben English.

Irish telecoms firm eir has shown strong support for the Dublin Tech Summit, establishing itself as a founding partner and lead sponsor.

According to the local media this event is one of many hoping to fill the void left by the controversial departure of the Web Summit to Lisbon, Portugal after 2016.

Based on the long lines of people waiting to register this morning it is most likely that the event attracted more than 10,000.
