THE BRIAN BORU BRIDGE IN CORK [ERECTED IN 1911]

There are a number of ugly bridges in Cork City and this is one of them. However, being ugly does not make a bridge uninteresting. This bridge is of interest because it is a Scherzer rolling lift bascule bridge. The opening span, no longer operational, has a span of 62 feet.

I recently noticed that the bridges in Cork are not properly identified on Google Maps so I am in the process of photographing them and adding pins to Google Local Maps. I have already added a number.
