'Unfurling' Sculpture by Anne McGill Farmleigh Lake


The good news is that I know who the artist is.

Towards the end of last year I had the good fortune to visit Anne’s studio in Clontarf and I was very impressed by the scope and quality of her work.

This floating sculpture is an unfurling fern frond in the pond. It was designed by Anne McGill a sculptor living in Dublin.

Anne has designed floating sculptures which have been exhibited in 'Sculpture in Context' at the Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin.

ANNA LIVIA HAS GOT HERSELF A FASCINATOR [THE CROPPIES MEMORIAL PARK]

Anna Livia is a bronze monument formerly located on O'Connell Street in Dublin. Officially the story is that the monument was removed from its site on O'Connell Street in 2001 to make room for the Spire of Dublin but it fact it was moved to storage because it attracted much anti-social behaviour as well as litter resulting from the use of nearby fast-food outlets.

She is familiarly known by the people of Dublin as the Floozie in the Jacuzzi,or the Whore in the Sewer (pronounced hoo-er to rhyme with sewer) among other names
